Firefighters have controlled a single-alarm blaze that damaged a two-story home near San Francisco’s Ingleside neighborhood tonight, a fire dispatcher said.

The blaze was reported at about 8:45 p.m. in a single-family home in the 300 block of Holloway Avenue. Dozens of neighbors gathered in the street and watched crews work to extinguish the blaze, which was controlled at 9:11 p.m.

Samir Golub, who lives a few blocks away and was visiting friends on Holloway Avenue, said he initially saw the smoke and then walked toward the home and noticed flames.

He said he is acquainted with the family living in the home, and that he believes an elderly woman lives in a separated in-law unit behind the house. It appears all the residents made it out of the home uninjured, he said.
