Labor Day Holiday Schedule

On Monday, September 7, Muni service will operate on a Sunday schedule, except for the Muni Metro (J Church, K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View, N Judah and T Third) which will operate on a Saturday schedule due to the Bay Bridge closure.

Parking meters will be enforced citywide on the Labor Day holiday. Commuter tow away, residential parking permits and Monday-Friday street sweeping will not be enforced. Hazards are always subject to citation and towing.

Bay Bridge Closure

The closure of the Bay Bridge Thursday, September 3 at 8 p.m. through Tuesday, September 8 at 5 a.m. will impact Muni service on the 108 Treasure Island Route. The 108 re-routes on Treasure Island and downtown will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday.

On Treasure Island, the 108 Route will re-route due to the closure of Macalla Road. Caltrans will operate shuttles from the Treasure Island Main Gate to Macalla Road and from the Main Gate to the regular 108 stops. The contact number for the Caltrans shuttle is (415) 288-8802.

On Friday through Monday, BART will operate after midnight at 14 stations, four of which are in San Francisco: Embarcadero, Powell, 24th Street and SFO. Muni Owl service operates from approximately 1 until 5 a.m., each morning at 30-minute intervals on most lines.

SFMTA and San Francisco Police Department enforcement personnel will be deployed in the South of Market area to assist in detouring around the ramp closures.

During the closure, motorists are encouraged to take public transit and alternate driving routes. The latest information on transportation alternatives are at www.511.org.

Sunday Streets

The final 2009 Sunday Streets event will be held this Sunday, September 6 in Golden Gate Park and along Great Highway. This event covers a route between JFK Drive at Transverse Drive and Great Highway at Sloat Boulevard. The route (see attached map) will be available for recreational activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The headquarters for the event will be located at Lincoln Way and Great Highway, where participants can get details about activities along the event route as well as free bike rentals. Additional information and free bike rentals will be available at Great Highway and Taraval Street.

Il Giro Di San Francisco

On Monday, September 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., San Francisco will host the annual Il Giro Di San Francisco, a bicycle race. The race route begins and ends at Levi Strauss Plaza, Battery Street at Union Street.

From 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., street closures will be required along the circuit course: from Union Street south on Battery Street, east on Green Street, south on Front Street, west on Vallejo, north on Sansome, east on Greenwich, and south on Battery.

The 10-Townsend will be re-routed to accommodate the closures.
