Police Tuesday arrested a San Francisco boy thought responsible for at least five separate incidents of sexual battery against female San Francisco Municipal Railway train passengers.
Police said the boy, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, was taken into custody at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday at a Muni bus shelter at Duboce Avenue and Noe Street.
Deputy Police Chief Antonio Parra, SFMTA director of security and enforcement, praised the work of police inspectors in the sex offender and Muni Response Team units, as well as input from the community.
“A lot of great legwork went into this case,” Parra said.
According to police, five women of ages ranging from the 20s to the early 30s, were reportedly attacked on N-Judah trains between March and June.
Two such incidents took place on May 8, when a suspect reportedly rubbed his pelvis against a woman on one train that morning, and a similar incident was reported on another train later that evening.
Police today asked that any other possible victims contact police.
