police-light-bar1.jpgThe San Francisco Police Activities League is seeking applicants for its summer cadet academy for teenagers and young adults in June and July.

Applications are due Friday for the program, in which cadets go on police ride-alongs, receive leadership training and education in proper police procedures, and assist in charity and civic events.

The academy will run June 21 through July 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.

Applicants must be between 14 and 20 years old, pass a background investigation, maintain a GPA of at least 2.0, and must regularly attend the academy’s training and community service events.

Graduates of the academy will be eligible for internships at San Francisco Police Department stations or bureaus.

Applications can be downloaded at www.sfpal.org/cadets. Up to 40 cadets will be selected.
