1:29 PM:A driver who was detained in connection with what police initially thought was a hit-and-run in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood this morning was released after it was determined the car didn’t hit anyone.
The incident was reported at 8:41 a.m. near the intersection of Sunnydale Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, San Francisco police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.
A mother was crossing the street at the intersection with her child in a stroller when a car drove by. She pulled the stroller back, and there was no contact with the vehicle, Tomioka said.
When police arrived, they tried to find out what happened but there was a language barrier between the officers and the woman. The child was crying and was taken to a hospital as a precaution but is apparently uninjured, according to Tomioka.
Police detained the driver but released him after it was determined no hit-and-run had occurred, she said.
11:52 AM: A driver was arrested after an alleged hit-and-run collision in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood that sent a child to the hospital this morning, a police lieutenant said.
The incident was reported at 8:41 a.m. near the intersection of Sunnydale Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, San Francisco police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.
A child was struck by a car and the driver fled the scene, Tomioka said.
About 10 minutes later, police arrested the alleged driver, she said.
The child did not appear to be injured but was taken to a hospital as a precaution, according to Tomioka.
