Two teenage girls were hospitalized this evening and two others arrested following a dispute in San Francisco’s Mission District, a police spokesman said.

At about 5:40 p.m., a pair of teen girls were riding on a bus when they spotted two other girls they recognized at 24th and Capp streets, police Officer Boaz Mariles said.

He said the two girls exited the bus and confronted the other pair of teenagers. The girls who had been on the street then used a knife and baseball bat to assault the girls who had been on the bus, Mariles said.

One victim suffered a stab wound and the other was struck with a bat. They were taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Mariles said.

The other two girls were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Mariles said the Police Department’s Gang Task Force is investigating the case.
