San Francisco’s Fire Department received a $27,000 donation Wednesday to begin a resource library to train firefighters.

The $27,551 grant was part of a national Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company philanthropy aimed at providing necessary equipment and training for local fire departments.

Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White said the money will go to buying new computers, software, training DVDs and reference materials in order to train firefighters on specialized firefighting techniques, search and rescue, emergency medical care, arson investigation and building code enforcement.

The money was donated by American E&S Insurance Brokers, Wells Fargo Insurance Services and the Fireman’s Fund, according to the fire department.
