7/15/09 2 AM Walter Lum Place Stolen Auto
K-9 Officer Kirk Bozin was on patrol at Powell and Clay when he checked on a suspicious vehicle and discovered it to be reported stolen. The driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot but they were captured by Bozin and his canine partner Bruno.

7/15/09 3 PM 1 Montgomery Bank Robbery/Arrest
Officers were in the area of the Financial District, aware of a series of Bank Robberies in the area in the afternoon hours. The white male parolee suspect attempted to rob a bank on Market Street but was unsuccessful. He then went into another bank on Montgomery where he was stopped by employees. Officers Rod Lee, Al Ciudad and Tom Cunnane responded and took the suspect into custody.

7/15/09 Noon-1 PM Union Square area Shoplifting Grab and Runs

Quick responding officers and relentless pursuit led officers to arrests in two “grab and run” shoplifting suspects in two separate incidents on Powell and Post Streets. Officers Al Ciudad, David On and others chased one suspect around the area until he was cornered and gave up. Officers Augustin Perez and Anthony Randolph were determined to identify one suspect who was caught but gave fake id to elude the officers. In the end, both suspects were found to be parolees with active probation for prior thefts.

7/16/09 8 PM Leidsdorff Alley Grand Theft/Bicycle
Officers Ed Carew and John Shanahan were called to the area by a witness who saw the suspect attempt to cut a lock off of a bicycle on the street. The officers arrived and saw the suspect carrying a road bike on his shoulder, unable to ride it because of the lock remaining on the rear wheel.

7/17/09 3 AM 400 block of Broadway Assault
Officers were called to an adult theatre where the security manager for a club said he was assaulted by the owner of another club across the street. The victim claimed that he attempted to intercede in harassment of a car full of five females by the suspect. The suspect attacked the victim, punching and slapping him and then retreated to the company of two other males at their venue. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

7/17/09 12:45 AM 400 block of Pacific Armed Robbery
A 24 year old Daly City man told officers that he was robbed at gunpoint on the 400 block of Pacific Ave. The suspect was described as a black male, 25-30 years, 5’10/180 wearing a black beanie, black shirt and dark jeans and fled in a dark colored Pontiac.

7/17/09 10:10 PM 800 block of Powell Stolen Auto
Officers Minh Du and Eric Tapang responded to an apartment building garage on a call from security about a suspicious person ‘casing’ vehicles. The officers saw a suspect driving a vehicle in the garage where he was stopped. The vehicle was recently stolen from an occupant of the building. The suspect was also an active parolee with a warrant.

7/20/09 6:35 PM 100 block of Washington Street Auto Burglary
Alert plainclothes officers Paul Doherty and Nico Discenza observed suspicious movements by individuals hopping from one car to another. The officers stopped the suspects in their vehicle and found it to be loaded with stolen items. They located the victim of the other parked vehicle and determined that the theft occurred. The officers no doubt stopped a ring of semi-professional car burglars based on their premeditated acts of burglary from a moving vehicle.
