A Mexican woman suspected of murdering her former boyfriend and his lover in 1995 was extradited to her home country on Tuesday to face the charges against her, the United States Attorney’s Office announced today.

In November, a federal magistrate in San Francisco found that there was probable cause to believe the woman, Sandra Cruz Villa, killed the two in Mexico.

Villa came to the United States more than 10 years ago and pretended to be a Nicaraguan refugee, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. She lived in and around Kelseyville, Calif., in Lake County.

Eventually the U.S. Marshal Service found her and completed an investigation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Her extradition was ordered on Nov. 6.
