San Francisco police will hold a memorial vigil at the Taraval police station tonight to honor police Officer Bryan Tuvera, who was killed while pursuing an escaped felon in 2006.
Tuvera, 28, a four-year veteran who worked out of the Taraval station, attempted to take 33-year-old Marlon Ruff into custody on the night of Dec. 22, 2006. Tuvera chased him into the garage of a Sunset District home, where Ruff then shot and killed Tuvera.
Ruff, who had escaped from a Northern California state correctional work camp in 2005, was struck by return fire from a second officer and then fatally shot himself.
The vigil will take place from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Taraval Station Community Room, 2345 24th Ave.
