Man Stabbed While Helping Woman Who Was Being Harassed

A man was stabbed with a kitchen knife in San Francisco’s Mission District Wednesday afternoon when he tried to help a woman who was being harassed outside a grocery store, police said today.

The stabbing occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. outside a grocery store in the area of 14th and Folsom streets, according to police. Rainbow Grocery is located in that area.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was at the store when the suspect, a 57-year-old man, began harassing the victim’s female friend outside, police said.

Police said the suspect was intoxicated and “being provocative” toward the woman.

The victim and the suspect got into a fight, and the suspect allegedly pushed and stabbed the victim in the leg and torso, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries. The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was taken into custody at the scene.
