Big-Rig Crash Causes Gas Leak, Brings Down Power Lines In Potrero Hill

A big-rig crash brought down power lines and caused a gas leak in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood this morning, a fire department spokeswoman said.

PG&E has since shut off the gas leak, but now city crews are contending with diesel fuel leaking from the crashed truck into sewer lines, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m. near the corner of 20th and De Haro streets, Talmadge said. The truck also brought down a high-voltage power transmission line, leaving live wires dangling.

There was briefly a shelter-in-place order in the area, but PG&E had the gas shut off by 9:55 a.m., Talmadge said.
