Man’s Death in Tenderloin Deemed Suspicious in Nature

The death of a 48-year-old man in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood on Thursday morning has been deemed suspicious by investigators, police said.

San Francisco police spokeswoman Grace Gatpandan said San Francisco resident Sheldon Smith’s death is being investigated as suspicious in nature.

Smith was found dead by police who responded to the 500 block of O’Farrell Street at about 10 a.m. on Thursday.

San Francisco medical examiner’s investigators responded to the scene and determined that Smith had died from blunt force trauma.

No arrests have been made, according to police.
