One Person Dead, Two Offices Injured in Incident on Lombard Street

One person is dead and two San Francisco police officers were injured in the city’s Marina District early this morning, fire officials and an employee at a nearby restaurant said.

Fire officials initially responded to an incident at 5:42 a.m. at Richardson Avenue and Francisco Street.

Shortly afterward, there was some sort of altercation involving police near Lombard and Pierce streets.

Prince Tenefrancia, a server at the nearby IHOP restaurant at 2299 Lombard St., said someone died at the scene.

Tenefrancia said he didn’t hear any gunshots during the incident, but saw emergency responders “trying to do CPR for a while” on the person who later died at the scene.

Fire officials said two officers were also injured and taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

San Francisco police were not immediately available to provide further details about the case.

The entire block of Lombard Street is blocked off and employees at IHOP were asked to stay inside during the investigation, Tenefrancia said.
