One Injured in Excelsior Structure Fire

A person who was injured in a fire early this morning at an unfurnished residence in San Francisco’s Excelsior neighborhood appears to have suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, according to a fire spokeswoman.

San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said the injured party was transported to the hospital but that sirens were not activated on the ambulance, as it was not a time-critical response.

Firefighters responded at 12:04 a.m. to a residence at 422 Brazil Ave. after receiving a report of a structure fire in the garage.

While at least three people were at the scene when firefighters arrived, Talmadge said the home did not looked lived in, as there was no furniture inside.

Firefighters put out the blaze by 12:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Talmadge said.
