Water Main Break Reported Near Panhandle

An 8-inch water main broke near San Francisco’s Panhandle early this morning, a spokesman for the city’s Public Utilities Commission said.

The pipe was reported broken around 5 a.m. at the intersection of Oak and Baker streets, SFPUC spokesman Tyrone Jue said.

Crews are at the scene but have not determined the cause of the break and do not know how long it will take to repair, Jue said.

The two right lanes of Oak Street are blocked so motorists should expect traffic in the area this morning, he said.
