Two Injured in Separate New Year’s Day Shootings

Two people were injured in separate shootings in San Francisco early this morning, police said.

The first shooting was reported at 12:28 a.m. near Taylor and North Point streets by Fisherman’s Wharf.

The suspect shot at someone and missed, but the bullet struck a bystander on the sidewalk, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and police did not immediately provide an update on their condition.

A suspect, whose name was not yet available, was taken into custody and a gun was recovered in the shooting, according to police.

Then at 1:32 a.m., a victim was shot in the leg on Santos Street near McLaren Park. Police suspect robbery as a motive in the shooting and the suspect or suspects had not been found as of this morning.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The shootings came after another one that happened late on New Year’s Eve on Market Street.

That case was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Market Street and involved a victim shot in the foot.

A suspect was taken into custody and a gun was recovered in the shooting, police said.
