Police Arrest Suspect Who Allegedly Robbed Bank, Pharmacy

Police on Friday said they have arrested a man involved in several recent bank and pharmacy robberies in and around the San Francisco area.

Police said Sean Yakota, 35, of San Francisco, was arrested Nov. 26 on suspicion of 15 robbery incidents throughout San Francisco and San Mateo County. Some of the incidents involved firearms, according to police.

On Nov. 26, San Francisco police were conducting undercover surveillance operations at various pharmacies in the city due to a string of robberies during the previous month.

Police said the suspect would approach the pharmacy counter, pull a handgun and demand prescription pills. The same suspect, who wore various disguises, had robbed banks by giving the teller a note demanding money.

Investigators were able to obtain images of the suspect caught by bank surveillance.

Police said officers involved in the pharmacy surveillance observed the suspect, later identified as Yakota, loitering around a pharmacy and tried to detain him.

Police said Yakota tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody.
