Suspicious Package Deemed Harmless in China Basin

A suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of a building in San Francisco’s China Basin neighborhood near AT&T Park this morning has been deemed harmless, a police spokesman said.

The package was reported at a loading dock at 185 Berry St. between Third and Fourth streets at about 10 a.m., San Francisco fire Capt. Paul Bassett said.

Bassett said the San Francisco Police Department’s bomb squad and the San Francisco Fire Department’s hazardous materials team responded to the scene.

About 90 minutes later, police announced that the package was only a non-hazardous bottle of alcohol, San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy said.
