Suspect Arrested in Stabbing of Glide Memorial Church Staff Member

A Glide Memorial Church staff member was stabbed inside the building in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, police and church officials said.

The staff member was attacked and stabbed in the shoulder at about 10 a.m. inside the church at 330 Ellis St., police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Glide staff came to the staffer’s assistance with first aid until paramedics arrived, church officials said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Shyy said.

The suspect fled but was quickly found on board a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus near the corner of Sixth and Market streets and was arrested, Shyy said.

He was not yet identified this afternoon.
