Woman Charged with Robbery and Child Endangerment After Allegedly Mugging Girl Selling Candy

A woman who allegedly robbed an 8-year-old girl selling candy in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood last week has been charged with robbery and child endangerment, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office spokesman said.

Ladonna Christian, 46, of San Francisco, was arrested Thursday evening after she allegedly robbed and assaulted the young girl on Divisadero and Eddy streets around 1:45 p.m. last Monday, according to police.

The girl was selling candy in front of a store with a group of children when Christian allegedly came up to her at a moment when the girl was alone, police said.

Allegedly, Christian asked for change for the bus and when the girl reached into a moneybag to give her the coins, she grabbed the girl’s arm and twisted it, causing the girl to drop the bag, according to police.

Christian allegedly grabbed the money and fled onto a bus, police said.

Christian was found and arrested in the Mission District around 5 p.m. Thursday.

She remains in custody on $150,000 bail and charges were filed today.

Christian is scheduled to be arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court Tuesday afternoon, according to the district attorney’s office.
