Bay Area Prices Shoot Up

Prices in the San Francisco area are up 2.8 percent over the past year, according to information released last week by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Along with being up 2.8 percent over the past 12 months, prices have increased 1.2 percent in the San Francisco area since February.

Local energy prices in the area rose 2.6 percent during the past two months, according to the department. The increase was largely due to increased gasoline prices.

Prices nationally increased 2 percent during the last 12 months, according to the department.
