SFPD Safely Resolves Twin Peaks Standoff

A man with a knife barricaded himself in his apartment for several hours in San Francisco’s Twin Peaks neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Around 12:50 p.m., someone reported that the 52-year-old man was having a mental health crisis and that he had a knife in his possession in the 800 block of Burnett Avenue, just below Twin Peaks.

When officers responded, the man ran into his apartment on that block, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The man refused to leave his home. Crisis negotiators arrived at the scene and more than three hours later, the man was taken into custody to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, Esparza said.

No one was hurt during the standoff, Esparza said.
