Contraband-Carrying Car That Smacked CHP Vehicle Discovered In Bernal Heights

A vehicle that California Highway Patrol officers pursued on U.S. Highway 101 and collided with a CHP patrol car this evening was found abandoned in San Francisco, police said.

CHP officers were pursuing the vehicle north on Highway 101 at about 7:15 p.m. and at one point the driver hit a CHP car, San Francisco police Sgt. Eric O’Neal said.

The driver left the freeway and the CHP lost track of the suspect around Crescent Avenue and Murray Street in the Bernal Heights neighborhood, O’Neal said.

San Francisco police later found the vehicle abandoned and found contraband inside but the suspect has not been located.
