SFPD Chases Down Suspect In Chinatown Bank Robbery

A man was arrested for allegedly robbing a bank in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said today.

Johnny Fannin, 39, was arrested in connection with the robbery, which was reported at about 3:15 p.m. at a bank in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue, police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman said.

Police arrested Fannin, a San Francisco resident, after responding to the robbery and seeing someone matching the description of the suspect a short distance away from the bank, Newman said.

Fannin took off running when police approached him but was chased down and arrested by officers, according to Newman.

Newman said police located “quite a bit of U.S. currency” in Fannin’s possession.

He was booked him into custody on suspicion of burglary, robbery, possession of stolen property and a parole violation, Newman said.
