A kitten that had already been adopted and was preparing to go to her new home was stolen from San Francisco Animal Care and Control this week, according to animal care officials.
The kitten, a two-month old with distinctive Siamese-like markings who was named Arizona by the volunteer who fostered her, was stolen on Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. from Animal Care and Control’s shelter, spokeswoman Deb Campbell said.
She had already been adopted and was waiting to be spayed before going to her new home for the holidays, spokeswoman Deb Campbell said.
“Shelter workers and Arizona’s new family are distressed and hoping for her safe return,” Campbell said.
Arizona has a distinctive Siamese lynx point coat with a dark nose and blue eyes (photos of Arizona are above), Campbell said. She also has a microchip and her identity can be easily verified.
Officials have released surveillance footage of two women present at the time of the abduction. The footage can be viewed below.
They are urging those women or anyone with information about them to contact the shelter immediately at (415) 554-9400.
