Driver Of Black SUV Strikes Woman, Then Takes Off

A pedestrian was injured in an apparent hit-and-run collision in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, police and fire officials said.

The incident was reported at 9:46 a.m. near Turk and Leavenworth streets, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, Talmadge said. She did not have information on the extent of the victim’s injuries.

Police spokesman Sgt. Eric O’Neal said the pedestrian is a female.

O’Neal said the suspect vehicle was described as a black SUV, and said it has not yet been found.

He said motorists should avoid the area this morning because the police investigation will impact traffic.
