A woman was critically injured in an attack in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood on Wednesday morning, police said today.
The attack was reported around 6 a.m. near Jones Street and Steveloe Place.
The 57-year-old victim was in the middle of a physical altercation with two other women when a man stepped in and punched her, police said.
The victim fell and hit her head on the pavement. She was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
The suspects fled and had not been found as of this morning, Esparza said.
The man who punched the woman was described as black, about 6 feet tall and wearing a hooded sweatshirt. A more detailed description was not available because the victim was knocked unconscious, Esparza said.
