Victim Of Fatal SOMA Shooting Was Recent Graduate Of Criminal Justice Program

A woman who was killed in a shooting in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early Sunday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 23-year-old Sacramento resident Melquiesha Warren.

Warren and another woman were shot at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday near Sixth and Jessie streets, police said.

Both were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where Warren was pronounced dead.

According to California State University, Sacramento, Warren graduated in 2012 from the university’s College of Health and Human Services with a degree in criminal justice.

The second victim remained at the hospital this morning with life-threatening injuries, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

No arrests have been made in the case, and no suspect information was immediately available today.
