Stadium Advocates Plan Golden State Warriors Watch Parties In SF

A group that supports the Golden State Warriors’ planned move to San Francisco is holding two watch parties tonight as the team kicks off its 2013-14 regular season.

The group, “Warriors on the Waterfront,” is holding the watch parties at Wild Hare at California and Divisadero streets and The Taco Shop at Underdogs at 19th Avenue and Irving Street for the Warriors’ 7:30 p.m. season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The coalition of labor and community leaders has been advocating in favor of the Warriors’ proposal to move across the Bay from Oakland to a new arena that would be built by 2017 at Piers 30-32 in San Francisco, between the Bay Bridge and AT&T Park.

The same group held watch parties around the city for several of the Warriors’ playoff games last season as the team advanced to the Western Conference semifinals before being eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs.

More information about the group can be found online at www.warriorsonthewaterfront.com.
