San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee will cut the ribbon to a new CityTarget this afternoon at a ceremony for the company’s second store opening in the city.
The newest store, the San Francisco West CityTarget, is officially opening to the public on Sunday at 2675 Geary Blvd. at Masonic Avenue.
Lee is leading the opening at an event at 5:45 p.m.
A Mervyns department store had been at the location until the Hayward-based company went bankrupt in 2008.
Last October, the doors opened at the city’s first-ever Target store at the Metreon in downtown San Francisco.
The second store will also be a CityTarget, which is a modified, “urban” version of the bigger store.
A career fair was held in August to hire about 400 employees for the new store.
