A man allegedly trying to mix cleaning chemicals in his home was arrested after sparking a two-alarm fire on San Francisco’s Treasure Island early Sunday morning, a police spokesman said today.

The fire was reported shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Sturgeon Street.

The man, Chad Ingram, 29, “was mixing chemicals to see if they would burn,” police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said. “Obviously, it worked.”

Ingram was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of unlawfully causing a fire, Shyy said.

No one was injured in the blaze, which was contained to the home where it started and was extinguished by about 4:25 a.m., fire officials said.
