Tourist Robbed At Gunpoint Near Dolores Park

A Minneapolis woman was robbed at gunpoint near Dolores Park in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon, a police spokesman said today.

The robbery was reported at 4:44 p.m. in the 300 block of Liberty Street, which is between Church and Sanchez.

The 23-year-old victim was walking in the area when a suspect approached from behind and ordered her to drop her belongings, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Fearing for her safety, the woman dropped her backpack and also handed over her wallet, cellphone and a camera to the suspect, who then fled west on Liberty Street, Esparza said.

The suspect is described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old who is about 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes, according to Esparza.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black sweatshirt with yellow and red lettering on it and black pants and was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, Esparza said.

The woman was uninjured in the robbery.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
