Was the van driving itself, or was the cyclist struck by a *motorist* driving a van?

    • Will anyone ever understand the true pain and total systemic victimization of the cyclist? My heart, it breaks.

      • Seriously, Brock? Why do you feel the need to belittle cyclists? The first commenter was merely pointing out a very real and profound bias in language that deflects responsibility away from the driver of the van. I know we’ve had this fight before and I really don’t want to have it again, but I just don’t understand why you would go out of your way to write such a dismissive and callous comment. Generally I feel like you guys do a good job with bike stuff so I’m just more confused than anything.

I thought you were being earnest, because my heart really does break when I hear this kind of news.
I hope she sues the city for disregarding safety-first. If they get sued enough then hopefully they will be more proactive in providing safe bicycling infrastructure.

Wow, I’m not a bike person, but given this is an article about someone being injured this comment comes off as serious assholery.

Embarcadero bike facilities should be so much better. The five foot lane tucked between traffic and parked cars is ridiculous.

  • The contact was between the person and the vehicle, a van. The sentence is syntactically correct.

Hi Everyone. I’m the cyclist involved in this accident and I’m looking
for any witnesses that may have been present during this accident. If
you or anyone you know may have been present to see all or part of this
accident I would really like to talk to them. I was wearing my helmet
but the impact was so strong that I lost consciousness.
