policeblotter_sfa.jpgAuthorities are trying to identify a person who attempted to light a garage door on fire in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond neighborhood early Sunday morning, police and fire officials said today.

The small fire was reported at 12:57 a.m. in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue, which is near California Street and involved someone pouring gasoline onto a home’s garage door and then igniting it, fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

Firefighters responded and quickly put out the blaze, which caused minimal damage, Talmadge said.

No one was injured in the fire, he said.

Investigators are treating the case as arson but had not arrested anyone as of this morning, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
