10:25 PM: According to the SF Department of Elections, 100% of the precincts have reported in, with 260,535 total votes. These are still unofficial results, which can change — but, for the moment, it looks like San Francisco can expect four years of Supes Mar, Chiu, and, now, Breed.

According to Appeal reporter Chris Roberts, District 5 candidate London Breed refused to announce a win at first, although she was hugging people and smiling getting photos taken, as you can see in the slideshow above.

“I wanna make sure, I wanna make sure,” she said, before announcing her victory as the final results were tallied.

Brood told Roberts that her edge in the race was that she’s a SF native. “When I talked to voters, they were happy to meet someone from the neighborhood. I was surprised by how exicited people were that I grew up here, ” she told Roberts.

“I stayed true to who I was, I have a lot of great relationships here, luckily, my dentist is here, people I babysat for, people I went to school with are still here, luckily.”

Breed also credited her win to distaste over the large amounts of money put into the race by outside groups, as well as the frustration some had with incumbent Christine Olague’s decision against voting to remove Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi from office.

“The big money that came into the district really turned people off. People didn’t like seeing the district saturated with that outside money,” Breed told Roberts.

“Folks had problems with (Olague’s) decision. They weren’t happy with the decision of the supervisor. A lot of people said that. But more importantly, there was the outside money.”
