construction.JPGA construction worker was injured when he fell 20 feet while working in a trench on Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco Tuesday morning, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

The worker was climbing a ladder inside the trench when he fell and hit a large cement pipe just after 10 a.m., fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

Paramedics transported the worker to a local hospital.

“It looked like he might have some pelvic or spinal injuries,” Talmadge said.

The worker fell at a site where JMB Construction is working to improve the sewer system beneath Cesar Chavez Street, Talmadge said.
