A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus in the city’s Mission District this morning, police and Muni officials said.
The incident was reported around 10:30 a.m. at 16th and Shotwell streets, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
The pedestrian apparently walked in front of an outbound 33-Stanyan bus and was hit by the front right side of the vehicle, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.
The pedestrian, who is about 60 years old, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with bumps and bruises but is expected to survive, Esparza said.
He said police are reviewing surveillance video footage from the bus as they investigate the collision.
Rose said the driver has been placed on non-driving status and is undergoing drug and alcohol tests, as is standard Muni protocol.
