bart_generic.jpgBART service at the Lake Merritt station ceased for about an hour Friday afternoon, after after a man was struck by a train.

The station was closed just after 2:50 p.m. Friday when a Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train struck a person on the tracks as it approached Platform 1, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

Trains began traveling through the station on a single track around 3:20 p.m., and at 3:50 p.m. full service was restored.

The person, who was on the tracks for an unknown reason when the train pulled into the station, survived and was taken to a hospital.

“Police officers observed him walking and talking during the incident,” Trost said.
