muni_generic.jpgThe Stockton and Ellis Street entrance of the Powell Street BART and Muni station will close today due to construction on the Central Subway project.

The entrance, located at the Apple store, will remain closed for approximately six years during construction of the Central Subway tunnel and the Union Square/Market Street Station, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Signs will be posted to direct riders to the nearest entrance during the closure.

The Central Subway, a $1.6 billion project that officials hope to complete by 2019, will extend 1.7 miles from Caltrain at 4th and Brannan streets to Chinatown and include four new stations.
