shooting_nighttime.jpgA 17-year-old was shot and injured Saturday evening as he stood on a street corner in San Francisco’s Portola neighborhood, according to police.

The victim was standing at the corner of San Bruno Avenue and Felton Street with a relative around 5:35 p.m. when gunshots were heard, said Officer Carlos Manfredi.

When his relative turned to look at the victim, he noticed he was shot. It is unclear however, whether the victim was the intended target in the shooting or simply an unlucky bystander, Manfredi said.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. His condition is currently unknown, Manfredi said.

A suspect was last seen fleeing on foot west on Felton. He was described as a black male, 18-20 years old.
