muni_driver.jpgA San Francisco Municipal Railway bus struck a pedestrian in the city’s Outer Richmond neighborhood this afternoon, a Muni spokeswoman said.

The collision was reported at 2:57 p.m. between a 5-Fulton bus and a man near the intersection of Cabrillo and La Playa streets, Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland said.

The 50-year-old victim was getting out of the rear doors of the bus when his foot got trapped in a gutter and he lost his balance and fell, police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

The bus driver, who did not see the man had fallen, began moving and a rear tire ran over his arm, Manfredi said.

The driver stopped immediately and emergency crews used air bags to lift the bus off of the man, who was conscious and was transported to a hospital, fire Capt. Jeanne Seyler said. The man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Holland said the incident is not expected to impact traffic on the 5-Fulton line, which reaches its westbound terminal at the Cabrillo and La Playa intersection.
