3:34 PM: The U.S. Coast Guard this afternoon suspended a search of the waters near San Francisco’s Embarcadero for a man who may have fallen into the Bay late Monday night after he left a San Francisco Giants game.
The 27-year-old man was last seen on Pier 32 at about 10:30 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Officer Mark Leahey said.
He and a friend had just come from the San Francisco Giants game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park and had gone to Pier 32, just off the Embarcadero at Bryant Street, Leahy said.
The man’s friend had looked away momentarily, and when the friend looked back, the man was no longer on the pier, Leahy said.
The missing man was reported to have been wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket, a white T-shirt, and a Dodgers baseball cap.
His disappearance was reported to the Coast Guard around 11 p.m., and search crews from the Coast Guard and the San Francisco Fire Department searched the surrounding water well into the night.
The Coast Guard returned to the scene at about 4 a.m. and conducted a first-light search. The San Francisco Fire Department joined them again around 7 a.m., Leahey said.
Crews searched throughout the morning, but the search was called off at around 1 p.m., Leahey said.
The man’s name has not been released.
11:08 AM: Search-and-rescue crews are continuing to scour the water along San Francisco’s Embarcadero this morning looking for a man who may have fallen into the Bay late Monday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

9:39 AM: Search-and-rescue crews were scouring the water along San Francisco’s Embarcadero overnight for a person who may have fallen into the Bay late Monday, a U.S. Coast Guard operations specialist said.
The search is continuing this morning for the person, who was last seen around 11 p.m. by a friend close to the edge of Pier 32, just off the Embarcadero at Bryant Street.
The friend looked away and then could no longer could see the person when he turned back around, according to the Coast Guard.
Overnight patrol boats and a search helicopter looked for the person in the nearby waters.
San Francisco Assistant Fire Chief Tom Siragusa said fire crews were assisting the Coast Guard until 3 a.m. today and planned to resume searching later this morning with the department’s fireboat.
