cover-crosswalk.jpgA woman died after receiving life-threatening injuries this afternoon when she was struck by a car on Masonic Avenue, according to San Francisco police.

The victim was crossing Masonic near Euclid Avenue outside of a crosswalk around 5:20 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Masonic, Sgt. Daryl Fong said.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Fong said in an email sent at 10:30 Sunday evening.

Traffic was closed in both directions on Masonic between Geary Boulevard and Euclid while SFPD investigated the accident, Fong said.

The driver remained on the scene and has not been arrested.
