BikeLane.jpgA bicyclist was critically injured when he was hit by a truck in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, a police spokesman said today.

The crash was reported at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday at Oak and Franklin streets.

The 23-year-old cyclist was riding east on Oak Street and made a left turn onto Franklin on a green light when he was struck by the truck, which had stopped at a blinking red light at the intersection before turning right onto Franklin, police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

The bicyclist was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for life-threatening head wounds, Manfredi said.

The truck driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with police, Manfredi said.
The collision remains under investigation.
