police-light-bar1.jpgA woman was critically injured when she was struck by a car in San Francisco’s Mission Terrace neighborhood on Thursday evening, a police spokesman said today.

The accident was reported at 6:17 p.m. in the 5000 block of Mission Street.

A vehicle had just made a left turn from Italy Avenue onto Mission Street when it struck the 41-year-old woman, who had apparently stepped out from in between two parked cars in an area outside of the crosswalk, according to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.

The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a head injury that is considered life-threatening, Esparza said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Esparza.

The accident is being investigated by the department’s accident investigation bureau, he said.
