9:39 AM: A man was critically injured in a stabbing in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood this morning in one of two violent incidents that occurred within minutes of each other, police said.
The stabbing, reported at 3:14 a.m., involved a 40-year-old victim who was walking near Market and Seventh streets when someone approached him and stabbed him in the torso for an unknown reason, police said.
The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are considered life-threatening.
The suspect, a man believed to be in his 40s, fled and has not been found, police said.
About five minutes earlier, officers responded to a shooting at Larkin and O’Farrell streets in the Tenderloin.
Police said a 19-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when a white four-door sedan approached and someone inside it began shooting.
The victim ran away and then discovered he had been shot in the foot. He was also taken to San Francisco General Hospital, and is expected to survive, police said.
The sedan drove away and has not been found, according to police.

7:46 AM: A shooting and separate stabbing occurred in San Francisco’s Tenderloin and Mid-Market neighborhoods this morning, police said.
The shooting was reported at 3:08 a.m. near Larkin and O’Farrell streets. The victim was taken to a hospital. No suspects are in custody, according to police.
A few minutes later, at 3:14 a.m., police received reports that a person was stabbed near Seventh and Market streets.
The stabbing victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.
