49ers.jpgA playoff football game hosted by the San Francisco 49ers quickly sold out today after the remaining tickets were made available to the general public.

The 49ers will host a playoff game on Jan. 14 at Candlestick Park and had given priority to season ticket holders or those who ordered season tickets for next season.

Some available tickets remained and went on sale starting at 10 a.m. today. Team officials did not say how quickly the tickets were swooped up, only saying in a statement that “the sellout occurred shortly after tickets were made available for sale.”

The 49ers, the No. 2 seed in the NFC, have a bye for the opening round of the playoffs this weekend and do not yet know their opponent for the Jan. 14 game.

The team ended their regular season last weekend by beating the St. Louis Rams to finish with a 13-3 record, a remarkable turnaround from the 2010 season when the 49ers won only six games.
