At a press conference Friday evening, San Francisco police announced the arrest of a 32-year-old San Francisco man in connection with three sexual assaults in the city’s Mission District.

According to a press release from SFPD, during the first incident, which occurred on June 17, 2011, the female victim had been walking on South Van Ness between 24th and 25th Street when she was attacked and “dragged approximately 60 feet to an area between a vehicle and a residence,” where she was sexually assaulted and robbed.

In the second incident, which occurred on November 18, 2011, a female victim was followed her down 24th Street from South Van Ness Avenue to Potrero Avenue before a man grabbed her and took her to another location nearby, where he choked, punched, slapped and sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing on foot.

The third beating and sexual assault occurred on December 8, 2011 near 24th Street and Fair Oaks.

After a December community meeting, SFPD released video of a man they said was the suspect in the assaults. SFPD also promised a $25,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the person responsible.

San Francisco Police say they arrested the suspect, who was taken into custody at Cesar Chavez and Treat Street by members of the Special Victims Unit and Mission Police Station, at 4:30 Friday afternoon.

With the help of a tip from the department’s anonymous tip line, investigators from special victim’s unit were able to identify the suspect and link him to physical evidence found at the scene of the assaults, according to police.

According to SFPD, the suspect, who police have yet to name due to “pending identification matters,” was charged with numerous counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery related to the three incidents.
