Salesforce.com has signed a new lease that will expand its downtown San Francisco campus by more than 50 percent, city officials said Friday.
The software company, which purchased 14 acres in Mission Bay in 2010, has signed a lease for 400,000 square feet of office space at 50 Fremont St. that will accommodate 2,000 employees when it is fully occupied, Mayor Ed Lee announced Friday.
“Salesforce.com’s decision to continue their expansion in San Francisco is positive proof that our city and its workforce are perfect for growing technology and innovation companies,” Lee said.
“This expansion is critical to fuel salesforce.com’s ongoing growth and ability to attract the best talent in the industry,” Chief Operating Officer George Hu said.
Technology companies leased 3.3 million square feet of office space in San Francisco in 2011, 35 percent of a total 9.5 million square feet, according to numbers from real estate services firm Jones, Lang, LaSalle.
